FASC: I do have wardrobe malfunctions more often than the average person. I think it's genetic because my mother seems to have mishaps fairly often too.
I should start a trend.
I did manage to get all my clothes on the right way and none of them burst open, fell off, or ripped. But, it's still early in the day so I won't hold my breath.
I find words very funny when I read what people write. You can tell a lot from what they say and in what context. Sometimes, they can try come across as really nice, try to gain friends and try place themselves high upon a pedal stool but you get a glimpse of who they really are. I have just read something that really did make me laugh, the painted picture of goodness is melting with the heat that’s beaming from them because their evil side shone through slightly but it still shone through. Oh well, sometimes people make up shit to try gain attention, it gets kind of boring after so long and its just like water off a ducks back. Now that is word, sound and fucking retention whoop. :)

Hi you guys, I've been at the vet's all frigging day again. Haku went for his followup to his surgery and it was great; the Dr. sent him home with a clean bill of health. Not a few hours later he was sleeping in his bed, then he jumped out of his bed just like last time and had another seizure, also exctly like last time.
So I made an appointment for him with a neurologist. The vets all seem to think he has epilepsy but I want to rule out everything else first before I start treating him for it.

I shall probably be off work for nearly 3 months this year, which is twice as long as I'm normally off. I'm done at the opera in early May, and will not be back til mid July. I had a job lined up for the time off in between, but it has fallen through.
are you still looking for work though? have you anything planned in that time? I am planning on coming over to parents in may but if i get this car, not sure if i will be able, will have to see.
I have been looking for other stitching work. Something may come up closer to May. It's stil a bit early for theatres to be able to really tell what their summer seasons are going to be like.
If I'm off work for a while that's okay. It just means I will have to watch my budgeting.
My sister & her family may be coming to Canada for Christmas. I hope so, I still haven't met my nephew!

They would be going out to the west coast, as that's where my brother-in-law's relatives are. So my parents and I would fly out there to meet up with them. That's what we did in 2005.

And Gran is just declining so fast that it's so disconcerting to watch. It's like her body is there but her mind is just gone, most of the time. She wasn't like this even a month ago.

Oh man, and yesterday Haku had that mysterious swelling on his right side that she thought was an injury?
Just an hour ago I took him outside and now he has an even bigger swelling on the LEFT side.
I called the vet and he sounded very mystified. He doesn't seem to think it's an emergency.
Just, honestly, WTF?
I know I'm no vet but why would unexplained swelling not be an emergency? Ya know? Gah! I know you're worried and I'm sorry. I hope everything will be okay.
He thinks it might be a tissue reaction, maybe to lying sternal or something. Why now? Who knows. Because it's Haku. But it's not infection or anything like that.
I just want some damn answers!
It's so weird. He's just acting like nothing is going on. He's eating tons of food and playing with his new fish toy and growling at Sano; from one angle you would look at this dog and find him fit as a freaking fiddle.
On the other hand, that's the same way it was when he had an atrophied, infected kidney floating around aimlessly in his abdomen. O_O
I've just been to see Gran, and she just really looks so terrible.

I've always wanted a Great Dane for some reason. They are really sweet, too.
I saw a Great Dane puppy last week. He was all gangly legs & hadn't grown into his paws yet. Cute!
My mother-in-law's neighbor used to have one named Bella. She was like a steel grey color and she was big as a damn horse. She was soooo sweet though. And they kept her in this little tiny back yard and never payed her a bit of attention. I felt sorry for her. She would stand there at the fence and let you love all over her. :(

I read about your dreams at Mayo's and I was laughing about the thirsty one, not so much on the date rape one. The date rape one made me go, "oh fuck!" but the thirsty one was hilarious because I've had dreams just like that where you're just guzzling any kind of liquid you can get your hands on and nothing quenches it. Kind of like having to piss in a dream and you never can find a toilet.

Hi guys, this is what I wrote on my journal and I thought I'd let you all know too.
Gran is still in the hospital. They didn't find evidence of a stroke, but she is still not doing well. They can't seem to put their finger on why. They keep saying "dementia" as if that were a disease instead of a symptom, and no one can seem to explain why A) she is in so much pain and B) she can't form words or open one eye some of the time. Right now they have had to strap her arms down because she was fighting them and ripping out her IVs and stuff. I think they also have her massively drugged as well. I'm going to go visit her tonight.
The thing about Gran--something everyone seems to agree without talking about it much--is that she's not going to get better. They might make her feel better for a while, but I think as far as her mind goes, she's not going to be the way she was. She is so unaware so much of the time, and this really all happened within a few weeks. She recognizes people, but it seems to take her a few seconds to even realize they are there. I don't really see her "recovering" from this. I think it's just how she will be.
I also just left Haku at the neurologist. His MRI and spinal tap are both tomorrow. It was so hard to leave him there, I was fighting not to cry when I was signing him over. The neurologist didn't really put me at ease. I went in there feeling like I was going to rule out anything really bad and then just treat him for epilepsy, but not it's more like diagnosing something that the dr. knows is already wrong, he just doesn't know what yet. Haku had some neurological deficiencies in his hind legs when he tested him. Most of the things he mentioned are treatable. Not curable, but treatable. But, none of them are good things. I mean, obviously if a dog is having seizures, it's not going to be anything good.
I missed school today but I have a chemistry test tomorrow and I really can't miss any more days. I should sit my ass down and study for my test but I don't know how I'm going to concentrate. Oddly enough, the last time I was going through this with Haku was on a Monday and I was trying to study for my chemistry mid term. That was the day before his exploratory surgery.
I just wish I hadn't gotten this false sense of hope in the meantime.
I know it's useless to worry, but it's how I'm built.

Dementia is such a horrible disease. Is she on meds? Maybe they're reacting to each other.
Try and study. Maybe sucking up information on carbons and other chemistry filled stuff will keep your mind busy and therefore not worrying.

Oh, I kind of like the studying. I hated chemistry the first time, but now I love it. Go figure!
An update on Gran:
She has a massive infection, electrolytes all messed up and some other systemic problems. They think that if they can clear up the infections, then she can regain some of her speech and recognition. So, that is one good thing! However, she is also in congestive heart failure. This can be controled with diuretics, however the use of diuretics will also screw up her already screwed up electrolytes, so that's going to be difficult to figure out.
Also, they think she does have Alzheimer's, too.
Still. I will be happy with some improvement. She'll be in the hospital for the rest of the week, however.

K, I'm so sorry to hear about your gran getting worse and haku needing more help. I am sending my best wishes to you and I hope they will both be OK.
My nan in her last few years had dementia. It wasn't altziemers (prob spelled wrong)luckily and she was always aware of who we were but she used to get more spaced out if she hadn't taken her water tablets. She used to hate taking them and having to keep going to the loo but she was always more with it when she took them. Maybe your gran would benefit from them.

She will be on water pills and I really do hope that helps her. However it's difficult to balance the water pills with the loss of sodium (which also affects her brain function.)

Although once in the night, I came down to use the loo and forgot to lift the lid and sat down and pee'd.

Hi guys! I am just off to college in a few minutes. I thought I had a test today and I spent last night studying, only to remember this morning that my test is not chemistry today, but channels and points tomorrow. >_<
Jennicula, hi! :D I was just going to come and post an update and then I saw your question.
The short answer is: Gran is expected to do better. Not a full recovery, but she can be lucid again.
And Haku does NOT have cancer or structural deformities. They haven't ruled everything out yet, but they have ruled out the worst possible diagnoses and so that's a GREAT thing. :)

And another good thing happened too, but I can't write about it here. It's just a really nice and cool thing, nothing superfly important, just something cool to put a smile on my face. ^_^
