death, not mine, but my children. i worry for their safety everyday, and that is the safety i can't control. after that it is my mum dying, she has had such a hard life and she is such a lovely person. i'm not scared of dying i just know i don't want to miss out on my kids. possibly above all that in terms of freaking out wasps, hornets and bees!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to look for a second job. I may actually have found a job already, doing piece work sewing for a dance wear company. One of the girls I work with sews for a local dance wear maker, and she asked my co-worker if she knew of any reputable sewers because she was thinking of contracting some of the work out. My friend is going to pass along my name. I won't know for a while yet whether I'll get any work out of it as the woman is out of town for a couple of weeks, but here's hoping!
If that falls through there's always other places, or retail, or answering phones for various theatre ticket agents in town as they are always looking for people to do that. I'm actually pretty confident I'll find somehting, but at the moment I'm concentrating on finding something sewing-related. That way I can work from home.
Whatever I earn from whatever second job I get will go toward paying down my student debt. I would like to make a noticable dent in that this year.

My parents are still stressing me out, only now it's my mother who's doing it, not my dad. They're tag-team hounding me >_<

Well, not exactly. My dad stopped that about a week and a half ago. My mother is really just fussing in general. It's easier to deal with coming from her, but it's still annoying.
Between the both of them I've had to endure a month's worth or harping and hounding. I think mom got the message though because she hasn't bothered me today.
I don't think they realize that their constant pushing & harping only serves to undermine my confidence in myself. I know that in their own way they mean well, but they've really just made things that much worse.
So true, I don't know why parents do that. I get so frustrated. And given my current living situation, well, you can just imagine, things get a little tense around here from time to time.
And isn't it weird that they totally can still have this much impact and control over your feelings and life?
I know, it sucks. The trouble lies in that no matter how old you get they will still see you as a child. They both still treat me the way they did when I was a teenager. I'm 41, for christ's sake! Granted, I've made some mistakes over the course of my life, but it's not like I'm the only person in the world who's done that. What I could really use in times like that is a little emotional support, but I don't think I'm ever going to get that from them. I might as well give up on it :/
It's a sad situation because it really is irreparably damaging our relationship :(
I envy people like K who have a good & grown-up relationship with their parents. I really wish I could have that too, but experience had taught me that that's probably never going to happen. They just exist in a totally different realm than me, I guess.

I think I'm a pretty good daughter though. My parents have never had to bail me out of jail or anything like that. Hell, they never even got some early morning call from me. I'm so responsible it's ridiculous. (except for the stuff they don't know about which isn't all that bad, but it would still make them be all like, "WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING?") But they still act like I don't have sense enough to put on a jacket.

Same. And I've never been a dinker, or taken drugs. My sister was the hellion, running away from home, stealing the family car for the weekend, and getting so drunk & strung out she nearly jumped off a bridge at one point. I was never like that. But I have the money issues, as she works for the government & I work in the Arts. And money, at least to my dad, counts for more than anything else.
I swear, he takes my finances so personally you'd think I killed his dog or something. I don't really get it, as I am not financially dependent on him. My bills are my bills & shouldn't concern him as much as they seem to do.

I envy that. My sister and I have never been close. I'm not close to any members of my family. I guess my friends are my family in that respect.

I don't think he'd pay my bills. At least not under conditions I would be able to live with.
I just got some bad news. A theatre company I had been contacted by recently re: work once I'm done my opera contract has had a production fall through & another one pushed back by six months. They have had to let 20 of their stitchers go. This means there will probably not be work there for me this year. They're kind of known for that though, having things fall through, which is one of the reasons why I don't often work for them. The place I most often work for between opera contracts is more reliable, but at the moment they don't know yet whether they will have anything going on in the spring. I shall just have to keep checking back. There will be a gap of about 2-3 months once the opera shuts down for the season & when their next season starts up. If necessary I think I could coast through that, but the goal this year is to pay off bills, not coast or acquire more, so I am keeping my eyes open for any work that's out there, even if it's retail. Besides, I don't like to be idle for too long. I get weird if I have too much time to myself.
Gosh, that does suck. It's sucky times everywhere right now it seems. Although to look around my time, you wouldn't really notice it. I see people out and about spending up like there's no tomorrow, but it's probably their tax refund they're blowing.
I know what you mean about the too much idle free time. My mind starts fucking me harder than it normally does if I have too much Solly time. It's not pretty.

Just after I got the message about the theatre work falling through, I got one from a friend asking if I'd be interested in taking on some clients who want some sewing work done. My friend often takes extra work on, but she's working & in university full-time right now & doesn't have the time.

I've been eating my bran buds, but I've totally been neglecting the water thing. I am probably partially dehydrated. I try to be good, but I get into the sewing groove and it just gets overlooked. Also, I don't like to drink anything in the afternoons as it just means I have to pee all the way home. I hate having to pee but having nowhere to stop to do it.
Oh, God, yes! What is it with people who don't want to fucking pay?
I insist on payment in advance for fabrics and notions, as well as a percentage of what I charge for my time as, if they back out, that's time I'll never get back.

Yay for small bladders! My ex used to joke that mine was the size of a thimble, because, I swear I can just think about peeing or being somewhere where I can't pee, and I'll have to go. It's automatic.

Interstate is horrible. If you miss an exit, it's way tough to find a spot to run in the woods, but damn I was so tempted a couple of times on our roadtrips.
