Hi everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend.

I miss you too Moostard. It was great to read you this weekend. I'm bummed I wasn't around.

It's been a good grand prix weekend. Lewis hasn't won it yet. Last race in a fortnight, come on Massa.

My sad and sorry team lost again yesterday and we are bottom of the table, oh the shame, the shame.

I've been re-reading what I missed this weekend and I wanted to tell you guys that you are great.

See you all later.

Anonymous said...

Hello, everyone on the pork. Have you guys looked at Fall foliage? :D

Booya!

is anyone on? I've been re-reading my journal posts from this time last year. This time last year, I was still at The Bad Place cleaning up bloodbaths that other people couldn't handle. This time last year I was taking T'ai Chi with Beautiful Boy, Sije Empress Teishi and The Lady Chrysanthemum. And this time last year I was getting ready for a birthday cluster party.

Well, I'm still getting ready for the birthday cluster party, only this time my brother won't be there. >_<

My brother and I have the same birthday, 26 years apart; October 24th. My cousin's birthday is Nov. 1st, the week after mine (and we grew up together.) Her husband's birthday is also Oct. 24th. Our Grandma's birthday is Nov. 3rd, and so is my cousin's son's birthday. Then, back when my two best friends were Nick and Jeremy (two brothers,) their birthdays were on Oct. 24th and Nov. 1st.

That's a lot of Scorpios!

So we have the birthday cluster party, and that's one thing i hope never changes. ^_^

Yesterday I went out birthday shopping with my Mom, and we went to Tar-zhay and she was looking at sheets. We passed by satin sheets and suddenly we both remembered this one guy who was a friend of the family's years ago, when I was a kid. His name was Tommy (typically Italian last name.) He was from The Old Neighborhood although I don't remember how my Dad met him; I think through work when he was a security guard. (My Dad is a retired cop, but he continued to work long after his retirement.) Anyway, Tommy was around when I was a kid of around 14 or so. Yesterday in the store we both remembered when he told this story once about how he'd gotten these satin sheets and--you have to imagine the Old Neighborhood accent--"I got into bed and WHOOSH! Slipped right out the goddamn bottom!" Along with the hand gestures he used to describe this, it made me laugh so hard that I was pounding on the table.

His daughter was a hairdresser who had accidentally colored Tommy's greying hair purple; I remember that, too.

I said to my Mom that I liked Tommy, because he was always so generous, and he was. He used to bring my cousins and fiends and I all of these madly expensive gifts. "The first time I met him, he bought me Lazer Tag, which was so cool!" I said.

"Err, he didn't exactly buy them," was my Mom's reply.

Oh. Yeah. O_O They'd fallen off a truck.

I said that I missed Tommy and I hoped he was doing well, because he had battled liver cancer for a long time. My Mom told me he had died around 2003 or so. I think I knew that, but had forgotten. It pretty much sucks; I would love to have seen him one more time.

Well, that was just on my mind today. I've got to do some laundry and maybe animate a little before Kung Fu tonight. I'm having a problem figuring out how I want to animate this one drawing that I did. It's crappy to begin with so it doesn't matter, but still, I want to do it. ^_^

Just for today, what's making you happy, lucky, blessed, or just plain cheerful? Are any of those things different from what makes others feel happy or blessed? Is anything unique?

The birthday cluster and having my favorite people all in one room.

My closest friend is my closest ally. She is from Berlin and we often stay awake until 2 AM talking about the state of the world, or the state of reality and quantum physics. She speaks about four languages.

On any given day, I can smell the ocean.

On any given day, there is a crow walking around with my shoe in its beak.

Two beautiful, smart young people that I got to watch grow up, and a little Korean boy who calls pirates "yo-hos."

I absolutely know that I will be going to either Japan or China.

A small group of friends, and when we get together, it's with swords and staffs, or with Chinese food, but either way we can laugh together well into the night even as we're beating the crap out of each other.

That's just a small list. ^_^

Anonymous said...

And you guys, and Mayo, and S(S)S.

Okay, I'll stop now. ^_^

Anonymous said...

What makes me happy?

My son. Especially when he’s telling me something so important that his words come out all crammed together it’s like onebigword.

It’s a short list today. I’m not in a good mood. I’ve been scowling most of the day. Thinking of things that makes me happy – well, it becomes a really, really short list.

I’ll try again tomorrow. However, your list made me smile. :)

I hope you are doing alright these days.

Just wanted to pop in and out.

Hey LucyBean! I like Mondays these days. It's Kung Fu day, after all. ^_^

Smoke said...

Hello beautiful people! :)

What makes me happy?

It's funny you asked that because I almost commented something like that to Mayo this morning. O_o

My son, of course is number one on that list. He's my everything.

Knowing I've got someone at home that doesn't care what I look like at 6 in the morning or how bitchy I can act, he loves me anyway. And he can make me laugh even when I don't want to.

The thirty minutes I have in the morning when it's just me and my cup of coffee. Nothing else. No tv. No phone ringing. Just me.

Waking my son up in the mornings, scooping him up out of his bed and having him pat me on the back while he's still half asleep. There's no hugs like those hugs.

My sister, who knows what I'm thinking before I even say it. We do share a brain, I believe. We should have been twins.

Knowing that there is a handful of people out there who for the most part - they get me. (That's you guys!)

I wish Mayo and SS would answer! And those guys make me happy, too. Mayo with his awkward comments and beautiful posts and SS with his big ol'heart, the way he likes to have fun with us and the things he's tried to teach us. You two are just lovely.

And finally, realizing that I have so much more to be happy about than sad. Doesn't stop me sometimes but yeah, I'm thankful.

Hope you guys are having a great Monday! See you after 5pm!

Anonymous said...

What makes me happy? Waking up and realising it's the weekend and I can roll over and go back to sleep. Chillaxing with my BFF, lounging around in sweatpants, hair tied back, no make up and eating stupid amounts of different cheeses with french baguette while watching dvds. Hearing my puddy cats purring when they snuggle into me and when they kiss me by bumping their nose against mine. Days which fit the stereotypes perfectly. Eg. a bright spring day when the crocuses are out, you open your windows wide and eat toasted teacakes. A hot summer day, lounging in the garden with the sound of the birds and sipping a long cool drink, with the smell of bbq's and freshly cut grass. A crisp Autumn day, watery sunshine, golden leaves, baked potatoes, stews and casseroles. A winters day where everything is covered in snow, curled up in front of the fire, reading a book with a nice glass of wine.

Anonymous said...

Oooh, that all sounds so nice! Princess, you are so lucky to have a little kiddo. ^_^

Hey guys!

What does your taste in art say about you?

I got this:

Ukiyo-e (浮世絵, Ukiyo-e), "pictures of the floating world", is a genre of Japaneseand paintings produced between the 17th and the 20th centuries. it mostly featured landscapes, historic tales, theatre, and pleasure. Ukiyo is a rather impetuous urban culture that has bloomed in popularity. Although the Japanese were more strict and had many prohibitions it did not affect the rising merchant class and therefore became a floating art form that did not bind itself to the normal ideals of society.

People that chose Ukiyo-e art tend to be more simplistic yet elegant. They don't care much about new style but are comfortable in creating their own. They like the idea of living for the moment and enjoy giving and receiving pleasure. They may be more agreeable than other people and do not like to argue. They do not mind following traditions but are not afraid to move forward to experience other ideas in life. They tend to enjoy nature and the outdoors. They do not mind being more adventurous in their sexual experiences. They enjoy being popular and like being noticed. They have their own unique style of dress and of presenting themselves. They may also tend to be more business oriented or at the very least interested in money making adventures. They might make good entrepreneurs. They are progressive and adaptable.

No surprise that I was into the Japanese aesthetic, I guess. ^_^

How about you all?

PIZZA hahahahahah! I had to say it.

My family and friends make me happy the most.

Putting the heating on all snuggy warm when it is winter outside.

A nice hot cuppa tea.

My Pj's.

Looking forward to crimbo.

Nice memories of friends lost.

Non-conformist, Visionary, and Independent
27 Abstract, -15 Islamic, -17 Ukiyo-e, 23 Cubist, -15 Impressionist and -38 Renaissance!

Abstract art uses a visual language of form, color and line to create a composition which exists independently of what may appear to others as visual realities. Western had been underpinned by the logic of perspective and an attempt to reproduce an illusion of visible reality. It allowed the progressive thinking artists to show a different side to the world around them. By the end of the 19th century many artists felt a need to create a 'new kind of art' which would encompass the fundamental changes taking place in technology, science and philosophy. Abstract artists created art that was diverse and reflected the social and intellectual turmoil in all areas of Western culture.

People that chose abstract art as their preferred artform tend to be visionsaries. They see things in the world around them and in people that others may miss because they look beyond what is visual only with the eye. They rely on their inner thoughts and feelings in dealing with the world around them instead of on what they are told they should think and feel. They feel freed from the tendancy to be bound by traditional thought and experiences. They look more toward their own ideas and experiences than what they are told by their religious upbringing or from scientific evidence. They tend to like to prove theories themselves instead of relying on the insight or ideas of others. They are not bound by common and mundane, but like to travel and have new experiences. They value intelligence, but they also enjoy a challenge. They can be rather argumentative when they are being forced or feel as if they are being forced to conform.

Like just now, I told my husband that people were mean to me today and he said, "Tell me who it was and I'll go take care of it. I'll kick their ass."

That made me laugh and it made me happy. Hee-hee.

Traditional, Vibrant, and Tasteful

10 Islamic, -2 Impressionist, 6 Ukiyo-e, -13 Cubist, -22 Abstract and 9 Renaissance!

Islamic art is developed from many sources: Roman, Early Christian, and Byzantine styles were taken over in early Islamic architecture; the architecture and decorative art of pre-Islamic Persia was of paramount significance; Central Asian styles were brought in with various nomadic incursions; and Chinese influences . Islamic art uses many geometical floral or vegetable designs in a repetitive pattern known as arabesque. It is used to symbolize the transcendent, indivisible and infinite nature of Allah.

People that like Islamic art tend to be more traditional people that appreciate keeping patterns that they learned and experienced from their past. It is not to say that they are not innovative personalities, they just do not like to let go of their roots. They like to put new ideas into details and make certain that they will work before sharing them with others. Failure is not something they like to think about because they are more interested in being successful and appreciated for their intelligence. These people can also be or like elaborate things in their life as long as they are tasteful. They tend to prefer geometric patterns and vibrant colors.

Mayo, SS, BlogBelieve, Porchies, Porkies, Anons, & Lurkers, Day Crew & Night Crew, and Everyone else,

How are you guys tonight? Are you happy? Mondays are tough, right? You want to sleep just one more hour, you don't want to get ready for work, you don't want to work, you hate what your wearing, you can't stand people and so on and so forth, EMO-Monday.

Well, I was growling and hissing and pitching a fit this morning, doing my usual wah, wah, wah, Mondays suck, I suck at life, do I really have to get up kind of routine. I pulled on my clothes, ate my breakfast, got in my vehicle and headed to work. I forgot to watch the sunrise because my mind was dwelling on some unimportant useless shit, I'm sure. I was chilly and there wasn't shit on the radio so I was flipping through the stations. Probably cursing the fact that I didn't have an Ipod and I couldn't listen to my favorite songs. I head to the post office first thing to pick up the weekend mail for our office and just as I am pulling in I catch a lady speaking on the radio about a child with cancer. She is reading the mother's updates right from the website, Caringbridge.org. Now this is a familiar website for me because our family has been through this, so I pull in and I listen. The first update she reads is about how her son's latest CBC came back showing that the chemo had no effect on his cancer. She went on to say that they were now "out of options", doctors give her little boy 4 to 6 weeks to live at most. Next update, the mother goes on to say that she wishes her mother was here to help her through this. The little boy's grandmother died 19 days ago from cancer too. Her next entry she describes everything about her little boy, what his personality is like, what a fighter he is, what a protector he is and how he has never once complained the whole time he has been sick. Her final entry from yesterday was simply, "Today, I signed a DNR for my baby."

I lost it. Right there in that parking lot. I tried to imagine what that would be like and I just couldn't do it. What strength and courage it must take to get you through something like that. I watched my cousin do it, but I wondered to myself, could I? I cried for a bit and wiped my face and headed to the office.

I got to work and immediately logged on to the website of the family and offered my thoughts and prayers.

Doesn't seem like much at all, but maybe it helps her to know that her little boy is touching lives all across the world.

Then Jules got me to thinking about happiness and I read all of you guys' comments and I realized that I am so fortunate.

I woke up this morning, surrounded by my family, my mother in the kitchen, my sister and my father just a hop and a skip away. I could have watched the sunrise if I had just taken the time to look. I was able to get out of bed and take my lazy ass to work. I get to hear the music on the radio. I come here and I get to learn from all of you guys and most of all, I get to look into the big blue beautiful eyes and smiling face of my healthy nephew.

Life, what an amazing gift it is. We're surrounded by love and happiness all the time. It's a shame that sometimes we forget to look and listen.

Love you Guys,
S

Smoke said...

And that says it all.

Goodnight everyone. Sweet dreams.

XOXO

Anonymous said...

So true Sdock.

Anonymous said...

Thank you, Solly.

One of my friends is at Caringbridge.org. His kid is only two and a half and has double genetic lymphoblastic leukemia. I absolutely don't know where people get their strength.

I'm built for happiness and I'm always all "Life is beautiful" etc. but I so totally do not believe that I could keep that outlook if I was faced with that.

It is, in fact, a big part of why I keep putting off having a child. I don't know where the strength comes from, and I would be worried all the time.

GAH!
