K, you could try www.ewido.net. It is a spyware scan. It has worked for me in the past. It takes quite a while cos it literally checks everything on your computer but you can keep other windows open at the same time and stay online.
You have to restart the computer after it is done.
Or you could go to accessories?system tools? sytem restore and pick a date when your computer worked OK to be your restore point.
I know BC has always had anon-bashers, but there have been a lot more than there used to be. She probably won't acknowledge me, but I'm not gonna just sit here and watch her be attacked over & over again. Even I'm not *that* much of a bitch. >.<
Kapunua - Have you tried getting rid of the error pop-up from Task Manager? (Check your services, too... even if Norton is disabled, it might have started an engine running in the b/g.)

Here's what's going on.
So I trashed Norton and that popup stopped. I downloaded a few other anti-trojan programs, and they are all reading the real explorer.exe as a virus. I can choose to let it run or to terminate it. Terminating it shuts down explorer, obviously. Then my only course of action is to shut down using the power button and restart. When I restart, explorer.exe runs again, but all my anti-virus programs are still thinking it's a virus.
This is maddening and very WTF.
But at least I still have you guys. ^_^
